My Journey & Experience
Acquired a Spark for Renovating Properties
2014 - 2016
My creativity and love for art and design started at the early age of 5.. As a shy little girl, art was the only way I knew how to express myself. While the other kids played, I always found myself sitting alone at an empty round table in Kindergarten class, drawing buildings and homes I once dreamed of owning and living in with my family.
In 2014, at the age of 22, my dream was realized by my growing curiosity of interior design and the real estate development industry. Starting up, I had very little knowledge of the right directions to take or where to begin, so I took the road less travelled, exploring my options and finding mentors who could teach me the way.
In 2015, shortly after graduating from College, I carried out my first real estate transaction with the guidance of other Investors in Winnipeg. By following the same lead strategies, I was able to acquire my first project before year end.
Although I was faced with many obstacles and challenging aspects of coordinating my first small project, I was grateful I finally had a chance to work on something I had aspired to do. The excitement I felt in being able to show my creativity from choosing the paint colour for the walls to designing the kitchen layout, was indescribable. In 2016, my first property was sold and acquired by a loving family..
Incorporated
2017 - 2019
While working other jobs and side businesses, I pursued more opportunities to renovate and sell. So, in 2017, I decided it was the right time to incorporate my real estate development business. I took on full responsibility, acting as my own Contractor and Project Manager. Any additional roles that my business required of me, I did - from working with investors, financing the projects, estimating, cost planning, budgeting, and acting as a liaison between legal and other professionals. On numerous occasions, if I had to pick up a hammer and do the hard labour myself to get the job done, I did.
During this time, along with my Realtor and Partner, I was also given the opportunity to help advise some of his and our mutual clients on how to maximize sale prices with design consultations, including cost budgeting and delivery methods.
In 2019, I knew what the next step was in my career; so, I acquired my first sub division lot in a steady growth area, and this was the beginning of my multi family development path.
Continuing to Fuel my Passions
2020 - Current
With consistent growth and the ongoing desire to improve, I needed more challenges to expand my involvement and knowledge in project management, design, construction and developments. By seeking continued education directly correlated to my field of work, I am able to improve my involvement with more complex and creative projects.
Since the beginning of 2020, I have completed my Construction Project Management Certification with George Brown College and became an Associate Member of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors to pursue my Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) Designation.
I can hardly wait to be a part of incredible opportunities and have the ability to work on more projects, showing that women can succeed in male-dominant roles. My hope is that I can one day inspire other women who have a passion for this industry, to continue working towards their goal while not being afraid of creating their own path. There is something truly fulfilling about building and creating something from the ground up and seeing it come to life right in front of your very own eyes..
